Reclaimed from the World famous York Minster Cathedral and dated by the Church to the 13th Century (c 1250) the letter opener is made from wood which is reclaimed from the South Transept, which caught fire in 1984.
The wood is taken from the beams and structure which supported the roof of the South Transept. Treated, preserved and hand made by local craftsmen into these letter openers.
